Account Name + Meaning of...

Your Neopets Account Name
First you need one account to operate from. This account:
  • must belong to TNO

  • must be able to send and receive neomails without neofriending

  • must be active (in other words you must log in at least twice a week)

  • does not have to be the account where your foster pet(s) live

  • does not have to be the account where you have the lab map

Keep in mind that you may have to deal with a lot of neomails. Since you can only have 100 neomails in your inbox at any time it might be preferable to keep your TNO account separate from the account you use to neomail your friends.

Once you have chosen the account, that account name becomes your means of identification. This is the name you use to advertise your foster pets in the listings and the name that will be used in the Hall of Champions.

What it means to be a Foster Parent
As I said before being a foster parent involves three steps. The Pledge states: I pledge to be the best foster parent I can be by helping pets who have been abandoned, improving them and finding them the best homes possible. We like to call it the 'RIP' method of fostering -- Rescue, Improve, and Place.

The first step is rescuing an orphan. Usually this means adopting an abandoned pet from the pound. Sometimes people give away their accounts when they leave neopets (or for whatever reason) and those pets are also classified as abandoned. Important: Making pets specifically for adoption purposes is against our mission as a guild, and yours as a foster parent.

The second step is improving your foster pet. It is far easier to create a pet than to adopt one from a foster parent so you need to make it worth a prospective owners effort. Improving can be anything from painting the pet to increasing his/her intelligence.

The third step is placing the pet in a good home. This is achieved by having rules and picking the best owner from those that apply. Throwing your foster back in the pound or giving him to the first person who happens along is NOT finding them a good home.

"I love all things alphabetical; letters and words, alliteration and assonance, synonyms and onomatopoeia. So maybe one day i'll pop by and give you a visit; brighten up your day with a letter or two"

Esmivida says:

"Adoptables can both enhance and add to an otherwise boring application (when used in moderation!). It's fun to see cute pictures of your dream pets so you can grace them on your lookup. You can even pretend it's your pet's "plushie,"..."
